The device continuously monitors soil moisture, temperature, and sunlight exposure while displaying a pixel-style virtual creature whose behavior mirrors the condition of the plant it represents.
Rather than presenting data through charts alone, Senso turns plant health into a living visual companion. As conditions improve, the on-screen character thrives; neglect the plant, and the creature’s animations reflect that decline. The concept draws heavily from mobile gaming, rewarding users with daily and weekly objectives designed to encourage consistent care habits.
The hardware itself features a modular design. A magnetic connection separates the display module from the soil probe, making the sensor easier to clean and allowing users to move the probe between pots without relocating the main display unit. It’s a practical approach that adds flexibility while reducing maintenance hassles.
Beyond its playful exterior, Senso incorporates a substantial amount of intelligence. The companion app combines live sensor readings with AI-driven image analysis, enabling users to photograph a plant and have the system identify the species automatically. According to its creators, Senso supports a database of more than 12,000 plant species. The platform is also designed for larger collections, allowing users to create individual profiles, assign growing zones, and review historical care data for multiple plants from a single dashboard.
